Huntershill House

Huntershill house was built in 1770.

 Listed building (Cat B).

Family home of Thomas Muir (1765 - 1799).

Its a beautiful building in a bad state of repair. The garden's were maintained beautifully up until the 80's, but are now neglected and over grown. The magnificent old chestnut tree was set on fire by vandal's and is now sadly dead. The avenue lined with tree's can still be identified.

It's listed on the Buildings at Risks Register. More info...

The good news is that East Dunbartonshire council have plans to develop the site.

If you're a tourist visiting the area or simply interested in local history - Huntershill House, the cairn, Thomas Muir Coffee Shop and the exhibition in the Bishopbriggs library are highly recommended.
